Why use animation?
- Animation can be used to integrate technology into
virtually any of the core curricular activities.
- It is provides a great opportunity for teachers to
assess of a given objective addressed through a creation of a digital
animation
- Most importantly, animation is motivating and fun for
students!
Materials:
Tools and Props: crafts (construction paper, glue,
scissors), legos, doll house etc.
Technology: digital camera, tripod, Microsoft movie
maker or power point and internet access
Other: Library books, magazines, other reference
books
How to get started?
- Introduce animation
- Groups of 3 to 4 people
Tips for Photo Shoot
- Use masking tape to mark the tripod so it does not
move when taking pictures.
- Move your characters about ¼ inch between pictures.
- The more photos you take the smoother your video will
be.
Step by Step Movie Maker:
- Open windows movie maker.
- Under capture video, select import pictures

Navigate to your folder and open. Click on the first picture, hold down
your shift key and click on your last picture. Now, all your pictures should be
selected.
- Click import. Your pictures will then show up in
collections portion of your screen.

- Now, click tools, options, advanced tab. Change the
picture duration to 0.25 seconds. Change the transition duration to 0.25
seconds. Click ok.

- Click on the fist picture, hold down your shift key
and click on your last picture. When all pictures are selected, click and
drag them to the storyboard below.

- Now, you will make the title of your movie. To do
this go under Edit movie click make titles or credits. Click add title at
the beginning of the movie. Type the title of the movie in the area
provided.
- Scrolling down you will find the following options.
Change the title animation and change the text font and color. Click done,
add title to movie.
- Now, let’s add the credits to your movie. Click add
credits to the end of your movie. Enter the credits for your animation
project, then click done add title to movie.
- To add sound or music, under capture video, select
import audio or music.
- Navigate to the folder where your file is saved and
click open. Click import. Your audio file will show up in the collections
portion of your screen. Next, drag the audio file from the collections and
drop it into the collections below.

- Once your have finished, with your animation movie,
you need to save it as a movie file. Click file, save movie file.
Leave it selected at Best quality for playback on my computer.
