Straight Line

1. Decide which is independent variable and dependent variable
2. click “x” and put independent variable

New Name ________, New units (write units), Rounding (how many sig figs)

3. Click on “y” and do the same as #2
4. Plug in data
5. Be sure to have at least 7 to 10 trials of data so you can get an accurate picture.

To get a picture without a dot to dot graph

6. click on blue graph window
7. go to graph at top and uncheck connecting lines
8. Go to analyze then to automatic curve fit
9. pick linear

Record Mean sqr. Error (the less the number the better it fits)

Click ok keep fit

It will tell you y = mx + B

M is the slope, B is the slope intercept

Curved Line

1.  To add a new column

New column name (1/v)              New column units (1/cm3)

New column Formula columns click volume (1/”volume”

2. Go to data, new column calculate
3. click volume then choose 1/v
4. Click ok

Then follow #7, 8, 9 from straight line
